RECOMMENDED READING

Before Amelia
THE GREATEST FIGHTER PILOT

By William B. Allmon

This article in the Aviation magazine of March, 1993 is a highly readable, but still very informative account of Barker's life and career. The author, William B. Allmon, "has had a long-standing fascination with aircraft, the men who fly them, and World Wars I and II. He has had several articles published by Empire Press and is currently working on a book about the escort carrier USS Liscome Bay." I heartily recommend that you obtain a copy of the magazine and prepare to be thrilled by his account of the exploits of "The Greatest Fighter Pilot."
