"gruppo con Arduino" Collection of Marco Bazzan, 1-31-06 Explanation courtesy of Domenico Marini, 2-6-06      Arduino was one of the crew of the ITALIA dirigible built by General Umberto Nobile that crashed during the flight over the North Pole on May 23, 1928 at 04:30 local time.      Arduino was the engineer responsible for the left motor of the dirigible. He died, not because of the crash, but because after touching the pack, the dirigible lost the weight of his shuttle and the frame was lifted into the air with some members of the crew, including Arduino. Their remains were never found.

Durante la guerra contro l'Austria, motorista di dirigibile, prese parte ad azioni di bombardamento.      Dopo la guerra passò allo Stabilimento di Costruzioni aeronautiche.      Nel 1926 prese parte alla trasvolata polare Roma - Londra - Leningrado - Vatzo Spitzberg, Polo Nord, Teller; nel 1928 partecipò alle trasvolate artiche dell'Aeronave "Italia" e perì il 24 maggio nell'incidente all'aeronave.      He was born in Verona (Italy).      He was a warrant officer in the Military Aeronautical Corps of Engineers. He was an engineer of airship and he took part in the bombing attacks during the war against Austria.      He continued in the Factory of Aeronautical Building after the war.      In 1926, he participated in the polar flight, Rome - London - Leningrad - Vatzo Spitzberg, North Pole, Teller. In 1928, he participated in the arctic flights of the airship "Italia" and perished on May 24 in the crash of the airship.
