Frank J. Bell of Billings, Montana passed away November 5, 1957. He was the only Early Bird in the state
of Montana With others who made flying history, he completed his first successful solo flight at North Island, San Diego, California, and secured his license in December, 1912. He then engaged in barnstorming, making exhibition flights in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and other western states. His biplane was the first to take off from water, originally owned by Glenn Curtiss, and later converted to a land plane. Back |
