Santos Dumont, who is teaching, continues to work hard to solve the question of the aerostatic "heavier than the air". He has experimented a new airplane whose ingenuity seemed incomparable lately. The new airplane had only a takeoff wheel cased in tyre. The airplane "heavier than the air" was put in motion by a very powerful engine, and the first tests done by Santos Dumont were satisfactory, but he has done a more convincing test and the engine is burst and the machine is crashed during the climb, breaking into pieces; with terrible risk for the intrepid aeronaut; now he is returned to the airplane type tested favorably before the latter: so much so that the better is often enemy of the good.

L'INSUCCESSO DEL NUOVO AEREOPLANO DI SANTOS DUMONT.      Santos Dumont, che fa scuola, continua a lavorare seriamente per risolvere la questione dell' aereostatico - piú pesante dell'aria.. Ultimamente egli ha esperimentato un nuovo aereoplano la cui ingegnositá pareva insuperabile. Il nuovo apparecchio non aveva che una sola ruota di lanciamento rivestita di pneumatico. L'aereoplano - piú pesante dell'aria, era messo in movimento da un motore molto potente; ed i primi esperimenti fatti da Santos Dumont si dissero soddisfacenti, ma avendo egli voluto fare una prova piú convincente il motore gli é scoppiato e la macchina é precipitata, in corso di ascensione, fracassandosi, non seuza grave rischio per l'intrepido aereonauta; il quale era é ritornato al tipo di aereoplano favorevolmente esperimentato prima di quest'ultimo; tanto é vero che il meglio é spesso nemico del bene.
