     This website offers a brief history of the field and a photograph of an aviator standing in front of his plane from the period 1918 to 1919. There is a brief mention of Eberts, as follows:
"Eberts Field was named for native Arkansan and West Point graduate Melchior McEwen Eberts, a Captain of the aviation section of the U. S. A. signal corps. Eberts died in May 1917, at the age 28 while making an airplane exhibition flight at Columbus, New Mexico."

     About all I can find out about his life and career is contained in the following extract from the website.
"Captain Melchoir McEwen Eberts attended St. Andrew's College from 1906 to 1908. Eberts Field was named for native Arkansan and West Point graduate Melchior McEwen Eberts, a Captain of the aviation section of the U. S. A. signal corps. Eberts died May 15th, 1917, at the age 28 while making an airplane exhibition flight at Columbus, New Mexico."
