Latham's Aeroplane. At first sight Mr. Latham's aeroplane appears similar in construction to that of M. Blériot's, but upon examination it is found to be different in many features. He is an Englishman, and his plucky but abortive effort to be the first to cross the Channel will always be remembered by his countrymen. At Rheims with his "Antoinette" monoplane, Mr. Latham sustained a flight of no less than 96 miles in 2 hours 18 minutes, and was second in the Grand Prix. |
