Frank Schober, who had been living in retirement since suffering a stroke in 1961, died
at Cape May, N.J. July 19, 1970 at the age of 79. He was born in New York City April 21, 1891. He has written his own obituary for CHIRP and it is quoted as follows: --- "Frank was one of the pioneers of Aviation, having soloed a plane in 1912. He worked up to 1923 for some of the big plane builders, Curtiss of Hammondsport, Lawson Airlines, Navy NC-4 and the Barling bomber for the Air Force. In recognition of his solo flight, he received a bronze plaque from the Early Birds of Aviation, of which he was a member. "He leaves his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Nancy Carstens, Greenwood Lake, N.J. and Peggy Seaman of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; also two sisters, Alice Schober and Sophia Dredger of South Hampton, L.I." |
