Winifred Spooner's Grave
email from Jeff Cooke, 10-10-09
Sorry to take so long to reply. It has been harvest time so rather hectic!
I have found out a lot more about Winifred Spooner since we last corresponded, largely due to a booklet on her life which has become available and publicised through Hinton Parva village magazine.
This booklet, Miss Winifred Spooner, aviatrix. was written this year by Jim Bell as a result of discussion with Vivian, Winnie's niece. The 52 page booklet covers Winnie's life in some detail and has many photographs obtained from Andrew McIrvine, her great nephew.
Some copies are still available so, if you are interested, it could be worth contacting the printer, Prontaprint by e-mail at sales@wokingham.prontaprint.com . If you can't get anywhere with them, contact me again and I will put you in touch with a lady in the village who still has two copies left.
It appears that Winnie was indeed buried in the churchyard at Hinton Parva, so I am attaching some photographs of St Swithun's Church and the grave.
Regards
