BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
via email from Jean-Pierre Lauwers, (10-19-03)
Edouard Beaud (Béaud) : born in Algéria on 1 August 1885!      He received license n° 150 of Aéro-Club de France on July 19, 1910 in a Henri-Farman plane! Probably his own plane was a modified Farman? He was indeed Hélène Dutrieu's her mechanic and he is seen with her in the photo above. This was on the occasion of her flight from Blankenberge to Bruges with him as passenger!.

A very interesting photograph which shows him and his plane at Aalter, (Aeltre!), Belgium, on May 10, 1911. Jean-Pierre writes, "His plane seems to be a sort of modified Farman or Boxkite! I have never seen such a structure before!" The plane is surrounded by a very large crowd of spectators, men women and children, including three men in very elaborate military uniforms.
