DEWEY NUMBER 1---The first machine built in our factory. Billy Parker has made more than three hundred flights with this machine without a simgle mishap. Many of these flights were for great distances over very rough country. On one occasion a distance of two hundred miles was covered in one hour and twenty minutes--a speed of more than one hundred and fifty miles an hour.

HISTORICAL NOTES
via email from Bill Alexander, 8-26-08
Hi,
Someone on the Washington County Historical Society asked me about the Dewey Airplane Company and where it was located. I found your website and noticed that the buildings shown were in the fairground buildings that were built in Dewey, Okla in 1915. I thought this was strange and went to the library in Bartlesville and found an article that referred to the company being in the fairground building starting in late 1917 and into 1918, so this is consistent with what you have on the web site. Wondered if you have a scan of the brochure for the Dewey Airplane Company. I know we have a lot of information about Billy Parker who worked with the company, but not sure how much we have on Lester Bishop. I am very interested in finding out where the various items are located, and it seems that there must have been a hanger and airfield built as well. The fairgrounds had a half mile long oval race track, though I don't know if they used that for a landing strip or not.

Editor's Note: I thank Bill for this additional information. Sadly I don't have a copy of the brochure. If you read this and can help with a scan, please contact me.
