DURANT AIRPORT
via email from Michele Harris, 9-14-06
      Durant Airport was named after Cliff. Huge story in the "Roscommon Herald", the local paper. Many dignitaries and aviators showed up from around the country. Airshow, bands, all kinds of events, it drew the largest crowd in history (at that time). The airport no longer exists; a Ford (ironic) dealership and industrial park occupy the site now. The airport was named after Cliff because he was so instrumental in bringing aviation (among other things) to the area.

     Michele Harris just alerted me to this website, 9-18-06:
"Hi Again Ralph;
     Here's another interesting website about an early aviator who was linked with Cliff Durant. He was a Lockheed test pilot who lost his life at Cliff's airstrip in Roscommon
Michele"
