On the reverse my relative, F.F. Grady of Wellington, New Zealand, has written:
"September 20th 1910
Visited Westenhanger near Folkestone and saw Moisant and Grace flying on their De Bleriot machines.
Watched Moisant start from the ground and descend gracefully. He covered 9 miles in about as many minutes.
Also saw Mr Grace rise to a height of 3,500 feet. Then the two went up together and went round and round the race
course.It was a pretty sight and being the first aviation meeting I had attended, was most enjoyable and
instructive" |
