Comments on Photos via email from Nick Whittome, 9-20-07 I think the timing is interesting. The photos are from my grandmother's personal album and, according to my father, she attended finishing school in Germany in 1913-1914. In fact, she had to return home early when the first war broke out. I'm guessing that she must have watched his display in Dresden nearby. Presumably Pegoud was there training other pilots and doing his stunts...but it must have been very close to the outbreak of war. Very ironic that he was shot down by one of his own students...
