ALICE WALSH IN MOURNING
Oct. 3, 1912 to Oct., 1914 -- Shorb, California
Collection of Ernie Sansome

Alice Walsh and the two children returned to California, where she never wanted to see, hear, or discuss aviation again. She asked Jerome Fanciulli to forward the $3,000 the Curtiss Exhibition Company owed her late husband and was held in trust. A letter of reply related that due to the total loss of the airplane and its motor, a statement of debits and credits would be forthcoming. There were many succeeding hot arguments betweeen Alice and the Curtiss people, but when the smoke cleared, the final statement arrived--Alice owed the Curtiss Co. $150.00
Alice remained in mourning for almost two years after the tragedy.

DESERT CHRIST PARK
Extract from roadsideamerica.com
"Starting in the 1950s, sculptor Antone Martin fashioned concrete into over 35 Biblical figures. Despite the apparent theme, he created the park as his personal statement of peace rather than religious devotion ."
