Kirby L, Whitsett of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away recently at Kennedy Veterans Hospital after a long illness.
Born at Marshall, Mo., 63 years ago, he learned to fly at an early age, making his first solo flight in
November, 1916. After 30 hours of flying he was made an instructor in the aviation section of the Army Signal Corps.
Mr. Whitsett retired as a flyer in the 1930's after a career as a pilot with several commercial airlines.
He then became a broker for the James B. Beam Distilleries from which he retired two years ago. Interment was in Hollywood
Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
