Contributed by Ron Szczesny, 10-2-09 I just went to Wright State University yesterday. I went to the Special Collections archive and looked at the files that Mary Elizabeth Wyen donated. There were photos, letters and notes from Mary Elizabeth. I copied some of the photos which are attached and also attached is a pdf I created by scanning copies I made of two letters. One is from a friend of Al Wyen's that he sent with a letter to him from Milton Wright, the Wright Brother's father. The only photo that I got the date from was the one of Al with his foot on the plane which was signed by A. J. Wyen and dated 1912 in L.A. I also went to the Wright Cycle Shop yesterday afternoon. Their 4th shop is still in Dayton and is now a museum run by the National Parks. The site 5th bike shop where the first flyer was built is right across the street, but the building was moved to the Henry Ford Museum near Detroit, Michigan. |
