THE EIGHT TON GRANITE STONE for the monument was quarried on Deer Island located in Penobscot Bay off the coast of Maine. Stonework was performed by Fasolino Monuments, Inc. of Woodside, New York. The bronze propeller was cast directly from one of the two propellers used on the first United States military airplane, a 1909 Wright. The casting was made by Modern Art Foundry, Inc, Long Island City, New York. The other bronzework on the monument was cast by Atlas Pattern and Model Works, Brooklyn, New York.
