I'm interested in encouraging a CENTENNIAL BLERIOT Channel Crossing 2009.

Check Bleriot.org and YouTube for the newest FLYING BLERIOTs.

I'm also in finding more information about #2 crossing by JACQUES de LESSEPS.

Final question. Do you have any information of BLERIOTs SAND YACHT? http://arizonamodels.com/reference/Thumbs/Misc/Misc.html

Thanks,

Blériot No. 8 Sand Yacht
The drawing is by Mike deLesseps, Grandson of Ferdinand deLesseps and son (I think direct) of the Blériot flying Jacques deLesseps who flew in Canada and the second person the cross the English Channel in an airplane.

Ferdinand deLesseps, of Suez Canal fame ( my Great Grandfather ) was the father of Jacques deLesseps famous French aviator. ( my Grandfather )The second to fly the English channel and very early in Canadian Aviation with demonstration flights.
I hope the No.8 Bleriot sand Yacht appeals to you, it looks like a lot of fun on a windy day. The drawing was done only to demonstrate to Don Campbell that the rig had an engine and prop in the early photo which had gone un-noticed.
Cheers,
Mike deLesseps

HISTORY WITH WINGS
Roger Freeman, a Pilot and president of the Vintage Aviation Historical Foundation, flies a replica of a 1909 French Blériot airplane during the organization's second annual meeting Saturday at the Old Kingsbury Aerodrome near Seguin, where there are plans to build a museum.

A visit to this site is a must for all fans of early aviation. You can see below a listing of the many subsections of the site. You will want to visit and enjoy each of the sections. They are a online treasurehouse of stories and photographs. Of special interest is a three minute video clip of Roger Freeman flying a replica of a 1909 French Blériot airplane.

Luncheon Party for distinguished French and English Aviators
at the House of Commons, 1909.
(HC/LB/1/111/20/88)
The photograph features:
Back row, left to right:
Sir Alliott Verdon-Roe, George Renwick (MP), John Martin (Daily Telegraph), Mr Robins (press), Dr Macnamara, Mr Renwick Jnr, Sir Reginald Ambrose Cave-Browne-Cave, T P O'Connor (MP), Hon Charles S Rolls, Hon William Lygon, Dr Lockyer.

Louis Bleriot (1872-1936) is probably the most well known person in this picture. He was an aviator who made the world's first over-the-ocean flight in a heavier-than-air craft in July 1909 when he crossed the English Channel in a monoplane.
Also featured are: Frank Hedges Butler (1855-1928), who was a balloonist and pioneer of flying; Charles S Rolls (1877-1910), who was an engineer and aviator; and Samuel Cody (1861-1913), who was a cowboy, showman and areonautical pioneer.
