WEDDING CEREMONY - 1958 Left to Right: Dave Nelson, Keith Holman, Claude, Geraldine, Joni      The gentleman on the left, facing the camera, is Claude's cousin (Dave Nelson). He was the best man. Dave owned and operated a watch sales and repair business for many years in Pomona, CA. He and Claude were very dear friends besides being related. Dave's wife, Ruby, was very kind to come to California from Utah to help my mother care for Claude during the last year of his life. The two couples were very close friends.      The man whose back is to the camera is: Keith Holman, pastor of the Santa Monica, CA Seventh-day Adventist church. He was our church pastor and obviously, performed the ceremony. The ceremony took place in my brother's (Duane Schlaman) back yard in Loma Linda, CA. on August 16, 1958, as I recall. IDENTIFICATIONS via email from Harley G. Nesmith, 10-23-05      I took this picture at Grand Coulee Dam Washington in the mid 1970's.      My mothers name is Bertha J. Nesmith, My Fathers name is Floyd E. Nesmith. Claude and Floyd are cousins.       Claude had a heart attack before they came to Lakeview near Soap Lake Washington, where we lived. He was still having to take it easy. We were on the Dam when I took the picture. Sincerely, Harley Nesmith

 

LIFE AFTER AVIATION      Claude built and sold grandfather clocks during his retirement years. At least one of my brothers, possibly two of them, have one of those clocks and they are still running great! It was a real labor of love for Claude. He would get attached to each one and then feel badly about selling it!      He was also a painting contractor in the LA area for a number of years and did lovely work.
